All About TMK's (Tax Map Keys) in Hawaii.

TMK Basics

All property lots in Hawaii are defined by a "TMK" or "Tax Map Key" number, each part of which is separated by a dash: - .

The dashes separate the following:

Island or Division - Zone - Section - Plat - Parcel/Lot - CPR (for condominiums or apartments)

Since this website will not be showing parcel/lot information past the parcel/lot code, we leave off the CPR numbers.
We will remove the leading 0's for Plats, and retain the leading 0's for Parcel/Lot numbers:

3 - 1 - 6 - 65 -108

equals:

"Hawaii Island - Zone 1 (Puna)- Section 006- Plat 65 - Parcel 108 (Lot 108) " .

Some island-specific sources will remove the island code, so you have: 1-6-65-108. Still others ask you to condense it for website searches and remove the dashes to: "31665108" .

Which leading 0's to leave off will vary from source to source.
